LoadLok and Roland organised a sporty and energizing cycling event, so called LoadGiro (18th – 20th of May). Together with a group of 30 people, both customers and colleagues, we cycled two stages of the Giro d’Italia. One of these stages is the Oropa stage – famous because of a superb win of Marco Pantani in 1999. The Oropa is a 10 kilometer climb with a 7 degrees gradient.
On the first day we cycled from the birthplace of the legendary Fausto Coppi (5 times winner of the Giro d’Italia) stage 13 of the Giro d'Italia. A beautiful ride through the hills of Piemonte. After the last climb to the house where Fausto Coppi was born, everyone returned with a huge smile and satisfied back to the hotel.
On the second day the great climb Oropa was on the program. A climb famous for one mythical day in May where Marco Pantani spectacularly passed 49 riders after chain problems to take the stage win. This year it was the finish of stage 14 of this Giro d'Italia. All of the riders of the LoadGiro Cycling Team fought their way up and conquered this mountain and were rewarded afterwards with some stunning views of the scenery.
A big crowd has found their way next to the track to support their cycling heroes, so did we. We took our positions just a few hundred meters before the finish to watch the Giro d’Italia in real action. Tom Dumoulin eventually won this stage and stayed in the lead of the ranking.
The adrenaline, the rush, the excitement and our great personal achievements made this event incredible! We would like to thank all participants for this great and unforgettable experience.
